Re: Bernie Hogan

Just seen this and I'm gutted - he was a great guy. I first met him when I joined the club - a few years back - he welcomed me in and made my first few weeks in the club very easy. Very sad news.

Re: Another wedding book...

Thanks all

I know what you mean John - I've only made books - never made albums the traditional way. Blurb is very easy to use and the templates definitely speed things up. Traditional albums seem so much more expensive, especially when you add in the cost of the prints.

Cheers

Another wedding book...

As some of you may know, I photographed a wedding last weekend (my sister's this time) and, as always, I'd appreciate any feedback. If you look carefully, you may even see me in some of the photos (and a few models I've suded for competitions)!! The link is here: http://www.blurb.com/books/1341366 -...

Re: New Wedding Book

Hi John - thanks for that - I've got another wedding in May and it's all indoor and I totally agree about using the flash, unless you can bounce and light up the whole room. Did you have much noise at ISO 800 or was is OK? Did you remove it afterwards in the processing? I did one shot with a tripod ...

Re: New Wedding Book

John - Very impressed. The lighting looked low at times (particularly the indoor shots) and I'd be interested to hear how you coped with that challenge, i.e. high ISO or flash or tripod?

Cheers

Re: ANNUAL COMPETITION 2010

Thanks Paul. The annual form shows the category "Creative Colour" and I recall a while back that "Colour" was going to be dropped, which ties in with the above definition. John is double-checking this.

Re: ANNUAL COMPETITION 2010

Len - can you post the submission dates for the Annual competition - I think you said on Thursday different dates for the two competition nights (22 April and 29 April). (I can't remember which night is digital and which night is prints - it's not shown on the syllabus.) Did we agree on 2 images per...

Re: Recommendations regarding setting up a website

My website is hosted by heart internet and I just moved it from a paying service (home professional - around £11 a month) to their free web hosting package (without MySQL support and with limited bandwith - 100 mb per month). Unfortunately, I found that, with my website and the hits I was getting, I...

Re: Windows 7

I took the plunge before Christmas - with the family package upgrading my laptop and the daughter's computer. I agree it is such a step forward from Vista - the networking functions actually work this time and sharing data between computers and USB drives is brilliant, especially with the library fu...

I don't get the coloured box anymore - just dots around the image as you click it - agree with sunsworth though, not sure you need the iris link.

Re: Wedding Photos - what do you think?

Cheers Phil The majority (apart from the actual ceremony) were shot at F/4 with the 24-105 lens and I couldn't go any lower. Given how tight it was in the reception area (nobody wanted to go outside in the snow!) I had to open up the lens, which will have sharpened up the background. It's another fa...

Re: new website

Hi Mark - I like the way it scrolls to the right - quite different and effective. On the home page I get a funny blue or purple square around the link/shutter image to photos (it isn't obvious that you click on this). There's still a typo in about - it should be "met" not "meet" ...

My first attempt came in at Grade F (96% packet loss)

I tried it again and got this which is a bit more acceptable!

Seems to be consistent now.
