Monthly Competitions

The Committee was "in session" tonight and one point that was raised was the very large number of prints in the Monthly Competitions and the difficulties that this causes for the judges. That so many members enter and there are so many great images is fantastic, but it does make the evenin...

Tuesday 18th December

The Digital Night on Tuesday will be covering Methods of Monochrome and will include a summary of conversion from colour files, Infra Red and will touch upon anything else that occurs to us on the night. As always, these Tuesdays can go in any direction we need them to, so it's not a totally fixed p...

Lots of Lovely Links

Just having a browse through the site and I thought it might be worth mentioning, for the benefit of both new members and older ones who may have forgotten, that Paul has put together an incredibly useful Links page. There are links provided to all things photographic and it's a very easy way to fin...

A slight confession to add to that - the image was not taken with a Pentax camera, but a Fuji Finepix S9600.

It's Raining....

It's rainig, Sue's at work and ebay is done for the day...so I thought I'd take a portrait of Sue's china doll Janine. This doll is almost as old as I am (is that possible?) so I've blurred her skin, adjusted her levels and added a nice texture of burlap to hide any imperfections. Ah that I would tr...

Summer Syllabus 2008

The Summer Syllabus tends to be more practical and "hands on" and I'd be pleased to have all your ideas of things you would like covered. I have already received one idea in for an evening of camera handling techniques and problems, with separate groups for Pentax, Nikon, Canon, and so on....

Some good points here. As regards composition, an art book that explains how to "decode" the content of a painting is quite an eye-opener and could be very helpful to anyone wanting to improve their skills. Such books will be found in Waterstones in Manchester and then perhaps bought from ...

It's knowing when to break those rules that's the trick.

There are plenty of books on composition and knowing the rules in the first place is a good idea.

A Success For Myra

Many congratulations are due for Myra's success in the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) adjudications today in obtaining her Credit. So we now have Myra Barr, CPAGB which brings ADAPS members with the distinction up to three. The others are of course Bert Haddock, CPAGB and Des Barr, CP...

Pentax A series cameras and lenses

I now have another commission for an article on this range and I'm in the market to purchase Pentax A series cameras and/or lenses, or at least certain ones.

Anyone in the club with any Pentax items for sale?

The cameras would be: Super A, Program A, A3
Lenses would be marked SMC Pentax-A

Many thanks, Steve, for a very thoughtful appraisal. And congrats to all who took part, especially our three winners.
