#180 Competition Parks and Gardens

Post by bazzasmeg »

For competition 180 I would like to set the subject of Parks and Gardens.

The gardens can be private or public, the parks the ones with trees and plants please, not car parks or theme parks :)

Due to the busy time ahead I will suggest a colsing date of 14th Jan 2017.

In the meantime Merry Christmas to you all....

Janice, Topiary avenue.
A good clean shot which has captured the shape and size of these manicured trees very well. You have managed to keep the vivid colours in the shrubs in the boarders whilst still keeping detail in the sky. A very pleasing image
Gordon, Autumn Pond.
This is a busy image with a lot of detail to take in, the pond is extremely busy and because of this it has reduced the amount of reflect given by the water. However, you have captured the striking colours of the top left tree. The portrait format of the picture suits this image well.
BydoR9, The Eldorado, Central Park.
I like the way you used the tree in the foreground to frame the towers and their reflection in the water in the shot. The Autumnal colours stand out against the clear blue sky with plenty of things to look at.
Alister, Garden at Arley
Taking a picture of a garden with such high hedges can make it difficult the find a good view point. You have managed to keep the hedges straight and the depth of field is deep enough to keep everything in focus, typical British weather giving a grey and overcast sky but you have captured enough light to keep the shadows at a minimum and show the detail of the garden
Tracey, Waddington
A nice sunny day in Waddington. This is a colourful image has a good deal of detail and is sharp throughout. The path in the image lets you walk through the garden and small the lovely flowers.
John, Abbeywood House
Another sunny day shot of the house and gardens. You have managed to get a view point that allows you to capture the house and garden and have kept everything in focus, another pleasing image.
The winner is
1) Tracey
2) Janice
3) John.
Thanks to all who entered, over to you Tracey.

A great image Tracy and A great subject which has produced images of places that I must visit. Nicely judged and once again some helpful comments. Already looking forward to the next subject.
