The Love Boat - johnjm
A nice bit of colour popping to start this competition. The red heart really stands out and the reflection of the heart in the water adds interest. I think the mono treatment could have stood a little more contrast, especially for the water, maybe a slight vignette could have drawn the eye more to the centre of the image.

Morton Corbet Castle - John Riley
A crystal clear image, good detail and colours. The pale buildings against the dark sky really make them stand out. That reflection is so sharp and clear, I'm almost tempted to say this has been done in photoshop..! Am I right, I can't make my mind up. I do like it though and this fits the brief very well.

Mirror, Mirror - Mike Aspinall
There are two sets of reflections going on here, the one of the photographer though the mirror on the wall and the candid of Simon in the background, it's just a pity the bar on what looks like a clock face goes straight across Simon's face, that's a shame. A really good idea though.

Eggshell Reflection - Janice Freeman
I would definitely put money on this being a photoshop reflection. I'm rubbish at photoshop so am always impressed with pictures like this because I have no idea how they are created, which is a good thing for me, there is always an air of mystery about them. The eggs are nicely arranged, good colour and detail, I like that they are all speckled.

Double Reflective - Mel Barnes
This is another cleverly done image, high key of the same model. Not only is she reflected side by side but also from her feet down. Well arranged in the frame.

That Man at Crosby - Graham Otty
I went to Crosby once to take images like this but the weather was against me and I didn't even get one shot. I keep meaning to go back. The Crosby Statue stands a stark, silhouette against that great sunset, I like that there are birds flying about, it makes him not appear so alone. The reflection fits the brief well.

Shell Reflection - Gordon Armstrong
This doesn't look like it has been done in photoshop, it looks like it is a true reflection, that the shell is maybe sat on an actual mirror, it just looks more authentic than Janice's eggs because you can actually see the underside of the shell. Good detail and colour, I wonder if a square format may have made it a stronger image.

Florence Rail Bridge - Alan Kemp
A slow shutter speed has been used here with some filters, 10 stop maybe? However it has been done has given the water a surreal soft feel against the cold hard lines of the bridge. The reflection is quite muted.

Lyme Park - Barry Rutlidge
A really nicely composed image with good detail and colours. Lovely sky framing the stately home. There is more emphasis on the buildings rather than the reflection so the brief on this isn’t as strong as some of the other images in the competition. But it is a lovely image none the less.

Reflections of ADAPS - JoJo
Oh, now this is a bit different. A well thought out image using a mono treatment, again, like Gordons, it looks like a genuine reflection rather than made up in photoshop so for that it gets extra kudos for me. A simple image that works really well.

Right, now for the results……..

Joint 3rd - Mel - for the four way reflections going on there, very clever
2nd - Graham - I'm a sucker for sunsets and I find this image very pleasing
1st - John - The reflection on this is pin sharp, I can't fault it, I'm hoping is a natural reflection though

John - Over to you

Some great entries and well judged with useful comments. My eggshells are actually a true reflection taken on a black glass table in ambient light. It makes for some interesting shots. Look forward to your choice John. :-d
