The first of the maintenance nights was very well supported, many thanks to everyone who came along and chipped in.
There is much afoot and it will take a while longer than the two weeks allotted, but we will continue to be open while things progress.
In the main room, the large glass cabinet has been moved to the front and is being re-varnished. This will hopefully look splendid when finished. The floor where it stood needs urgent repairs and when that is done the desks will be placed there for signing in and the free book stall. The lower, red, paintwork in the room is being replaced, at present the old red paint is being removed where it's flaking off.
In the back, the ceiling is coming down and being replaced, but first the roof has to be watertight, so some final guttering work is being done and a downspout being replaced. The kitchen will be relocated in the old darkroom, freeing up a huge potential space for second meetings and studio. Please expect some dust and debris whilst work is done.
There are a group of members who are donating a lot of effort into achieving this within what we can afford, which is absolutely brilliant and a big thank you from us all.
