Competition #80 - Favourite Photo of 2011
Re: Competition #80 - Favourite Photo of 2011
A good competition and a good point made well by Paul in both the setting and the analysis of what these images mean.
Best regards

Aargh, for some reason I'd got it into my head that this ended on the 8th. I kept putting it off until I had time to sit down and explain properly why I picked the photo I did. Oh well, that'll teach me.
Some great shots here, and a very worthy winner. Well done Mike.

OK, as you asked...PhilipHowe wrote: Paul, where's yours?
I actually haven't taken many photographs during 2011. My camera has only been out of its bag four times during the whole year.
Two of those occasions were to photograph 'L' - a lovely lady who contacted me through my website back in April to ask if there was any possibility of us working together. She is a lovely lady, a former professional bikini model working in Miami and now resident not too far away from ADAPS. We have done two shoots together so far and I'm confident that we'll do more in 2012.
You've all seen the beach shots before on the forum, however I've chosen this one as my favourite of the year. Like Phil's shoot, it was taken outdoors (Formby Beach), with the light changing every few minutes and a cold September wind blowing. Yet beautiful blue sky, thankfully. Shot in Manual, I used a Nikon SB-800 speedlight for lighting. I'm no expert with using speedlights so I was really pleased that the images turned out just as I had planned.
I really couldn't decide if I preferred it in colour or duotone, so I took the easy option and asked Mrs J to decide. She chose this one...
Enjoy your photography during 2012 and I hope that you all make some photographs that make you happy.
Paul
