Serious Microsoft Warning.

Post by canonsnap »

There is a world wide warning from Microsoft about WINDOWS all systems being compromised. XP VISTA LYNC WIDOWS OFFICE 2005 - 2010. It was on the world news this morning. For Microsoft to put it onto the world news, it's serious.
I think I caught a glimpse of it on my emails. It comes as an email from Microsoft, but not in the usual way.
I found it in the left hand column where you list of contacts sits. It has an obscure address of numerical and alphabetical and ends in Microsoft. The header can be seen without opening it. There are two buttons below asking 'YES or NO'.
The header is asking do you want to chat with Microsoft to solve any issues. Microsoft wouldn't do that anyway. Click the no button then immediately run a full antivirus programme. A full run today and again first thing in the morning.

A friendly heads up.

Hi
Do you have any links to said news articles etc? Or from Microsoft themselves?
I work in the IT industry and see too many of these
messages that are just fake scaremongering (especially on Facebook)
with no actual links to official sources to back up the claims.

Thanks for the headsup but can't find any info about this on any
Leading Anti-Virus websites or MSN etc.

Regards

Shaun, I'm with you, having worked in It for the last 18 years, I'm still not believing this, and the fact the BBC has this articlehttp://m.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24814999 but are always taken in by spam spoof emails does nothing to change my mind.

Roy, just for the record, it's the BBC I'm having a go at here as they got a lot of things wrong by not checking source, mainly on technology stories.
