BT Yahoo Flickr account
Logged onto my Flickr account & got the attached message on my Photostream. I don't know if anyone else has received this or has followed the link to transfer the account? I tried & didn't get very far, advice on successful transfers gratefully received.

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
I received this message the other day and after much deliberation (and trying to check if it was genuine) decided to click on the migrate now button. It enabled me to select a Yahoo ID which I already had and the move was simple and smooth (thank goodness). This was about a week ago and there is no evidence - so far - of this being an attack on my computer and files.

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
Having said this, Eric, you do lose the Flicker Pro account which is currently free. If you migrate, you will receive a message telling you about this. I will not be paying for the Pro account and will now probably close my Flickr account as I use it infrequently.

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
Hi Janice & Paul
Thanks for the info. I have over 3000 images on Flickr courtesy of my free status which I assumed was through BT, who are my ISP, so I wouldn't like to lose it. I have been bombarded with threats from BT that they are closing their association with Yahoo & that I will be receiving an email advising me how & when to transfer my email account from BT Yahoo to BT. They have also been trying to get me to use their (BT) new homepage which I have resisted up until now. So I will leave things as they are for now.
Regards Eric.

A lot of people were unhappy with this, but the migration seems to be working. If you do nothing, you'll lose the files, so something is a better option.

Just read the comments, one individual said you get one TB of free space for the unpaid account, unless I misunderstood. I've always used my BT Yahoo Flickr account since around 2009 but have nowhere near 1TB stored on there. I agree with one comment about the social side, that for me has virtually died since they changed the set up. I have all my AV shows stored on Mediafire as well as 2 x 1TB hard drives & the images on Flickr are only copies, so thinking about it all I will still hang fire. BT still hasn't sent out the email advising of the date of change that they have been threatening. I got a message the other morning their email service was down, so maybe they are having trouble setting up the new service. I have been telling BT for at least 3 years I will close my account & go elsewhere, but the thought of changing my email address with all the services I use puts me off. & while they have the stranglehold over the lines is another reason I'm staying put.
Regards Eric.

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
After much thought I bit the bullet & transferred my account, & yes you do get 1TB of space for a free account. Tried to log in today & got entangled with BT, realised I had used my old link, logged in from Google all is well.

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
Is there a way to protect your photos from right click and download with flickr?
I can't find a way of doing it, it always lets you pick any size you want and will happily let you rip it?

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
People have made comments in recent past about me using a watermark © on my online images.PhilipHowe wrote:Is there a way to protect your photos from right click and download with flickr?

("the watermark spoils the photo...")
But when you've seen your photos being used on other peoples websites you'll understand why I do it.
And I only upload medium-sized web-ready images.

You can set up your account profile to prevent what you are asking, or you could some time ago, have you tried it.

Re: BT Yahoo Flickr account
Paul, I've got watermarks on them, thanks, but still don't want it to happen. i watermark everything I want to remain having an interest in.
Yatchsman, I've tried everything I can find.
I'd prefer it to be the same as my website http://philiphowe.co.uk though.
Thanks.

'No Right Click' might deter some photo stealers, but if someone wanted the photos off your website they could just screen-grab them.PhilipHowe wrote: Paul, I've got watermarks on them, thanks, but still don't want it to happen. i watermark everything I want to remain having an interest in.
