My Road Trip

Hi All.
I've just completed a 1,035 mile round trip to get 6 photos!
I was given a set of placemats by Mum with olden day scenes of 6 English villages. Since I've been on holiday this week I thought how about going to these places, trying to take a photo from the same spots and seeing how much they've changed through the years. Sadly 3 of them are now not much more than car parks. Another thing that I was shocked about ( and I don't know why I should be! ) is that painters cheat! They move all the focal points nearer to each other than in reality!
Anyway here are the photos, then & now. Any comments, good or bad are welcome.
Regards,
Phil.

Hi Phil
The best photos you've taken so far, I think. And I'm really impressed that you've thought of a project and seen it through.
Photos 1 and 2 are my favourites. Lovely exposures, good colours, perfect viewpoints. Perfect picture postcards.
On photo 4 I would have moved in front of, or to the side of, the blue Ford Fiesta to get a better view (if possible). The 'No Entry' sign is a bit obtrusive too.
Photo 6 (Troutbeck) has quite a bluish colour cast to it. If this isn't deliberate I would tweak the colours a bit.
Well done! Good effort!

What Paul said.
I'd also like to see you show these at the club the next time we have a "members' pictures" evening, be it Gentlemen's Evening or something similar. It's a great idea for a project.
It's the same idea that prompted ADAPS' first visit to Haddon Hall, when I had found a very old image of the place in a 1906 photo magazine.

One more thing.... In terms of presentation it might be an idea to show the 'then and now' side by siide, eg:
(sorry for playing with your photo)

Thanks John & Paul.
The Troutbeck photo I just couldn't seem to get right. It was around 8.00 at night just as the light was starting to fade. I'll have to go back sometime ( fortunately it's the nearest one! )
I don't mind you sorting my photos out Paul; in fact that was what I was trying to do myself but something went wrong when I was uploading them.
Regards,
Phil.

What a good idea. A good set of photos Phil. I like the then & now but Paul's idea to keep the images together works better, I found myself scrolling up and down a lot to compare them.

Brilliant idea for a project - I have a couple of books which show images of villages then and now and it is great to see the difference - even better to see very little difference! The only place I have visited is Castlecombe and that remains not quite frozen in time but near enough. Good to see these images and they are great photos.

These make a really interesting set of pictures. It is good to see how much of the original is still recognisable.
It must have annoyed the original artist that every time he set up his easel, somebody parked a stagecoach in shot!!!!!
