Re: Glamour images for comment

From a photography point of view the perspective looks wrong to me particularly on 1 and 3. I'd guess that you were shooting at a fairly wide angle so I'd try putting a longer lens on (≥70mm) and step back a bit if you have the space.

Re: Competition #29 - Self Portrait

A good number of entries here, thanks all for entering. This is the first time I've had to judge a photography competition so bear with me! I hope you don't find my comments too harsh  Mike Really like the idea behind this. Perhaps cropped a little tightly and would like to have seen the whole...

Competition #29 - Self Portrait

The only rule for this is that this HAS to be taken by yourself (no cheating!) using timer for example - though I can think of a few other creative ways which could be used...

This is also a good excuse to update your avatar on the forum too! ;-]

Re: Important Information Request

My AVG antivirus picked this up when I accessed the forum home page on 11th Oct 16:14. Luckily it disinfected immediately. Looks sorted now.

Re: Missing members

I've not been to the club for a few months now due to my new interest in studio photography which unfortunately clashes with the club on Thursdays. In fact I spend nearly all of my spare time there  This was brought about by studio sessions at ADAPS - without these I would probably not have go...

Re: 120 film recommendation please

Thanks for all the advice. Perversely I've gone with a film no-one has mentioned  Kodak Portra 160NC - recommended to me as a film good for skin tones in the studio. They've also said to overexpose - set ISO to 125 or 100 and don't tell the lab! I don't know whether I'll be that brave but as i...

120 film recommendation please

:h!:
I'm going to be experimenting with a medium format film camera in the studio this weekend and wonder if anyone can recommend what film to purchase?

I have no experience with film - any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: Photoshop cs2 raws

Adobe have a free RAW converter utility for download on their site which supports 40D files. Just batch convert to Adobe RAW .dng files which you can open in CS2.

Re: Backgrounds

I'd tend to agree with Paul that you'll probably get better pictures outdoors without lights. It may be worth buying a simple reflector to add some fill light - this could also be used indoors as well to add fill to natural light from a window for example. I use a black lastolite background which is...

What is the screen resolution used for the projector?
