Re: Sports camera settings

Try the auto mode and then look at the metadata for shutter speed etc. My starting point would be, highest aperture, but, sometimes, outdoors, the light changed so quickly. To freeze the action, I'd go for Tv, where you can set the shutter speed, to say 1/640sec and it will work out the aperture for...

He's a very good photographer. On his website is a mesmerising gallery of trees.
Very good.

Canon CS100 – 1TB Wi-Fi Photo Store & Share Station ONLY £19

Apologies, if this looks like advertising, but, I think it's a great deal, currently retailing at £59, but, when you add it to your basket, it'll knock £40 off. you need to spend £30 to get free delivery, so, why not two people buy them together (if you use quidco, that's available as well). https:/...

Re: scanning 35mm transparencies

If you wanted to try a DIY approach (it is raining outside) then why not use your camera to do the scanning. It's worth a try.

Re: Lens Problem - EF 24-105L

Lens all repaired, took a week and a half, £150 lighter. It was a circuit board that moves with the diaphragm, 'easy fix', as well known. Gave the lens a good clean up as well, happy bunny.

Re: Model attire (just out interest)

Just to add what everyone else said, a bit of both. On a model shoot, I ask the model what they will be bringing and always tell them to bring too much. Sometimes they turn up with two bags, sometimes a suitcase. If I do a lingerie shoot at my studio, i just ask them to tip their whole top drawer in...

Re: Lens Problem - EF 24-105L

Thanks John. I work in Bolton Town Centre now, so I've just popped into Mathers and he said he knows what it will be, but to still send it through them for an estimate. He said it's the diaphragm control circuit will have split and it's quite common. As they are best part of four figures to buy new,...

Lens Problem - EF 24-105L

I've just secured myself a studio again in Ancoats, Manchester and had my first two shoots back on Friday. I checked all my camera equipment the day before, as it hadn't been used for a while. My 24-105L started to 'chatter', not exactly searching for focus, as in 'hunting' but moved very slightly. ...

Re: Dead computer photo recovery

You need some kind of data recovery software Danny. It most likely won't be able to recover directories, but may be able to pick up files (not file names). Did I read that you had mounted the drive as an external/second drive? What size is the drive Do you roughly know the location your photos were ...

Re: Elements & PC storage

Jojo, what I'd do is copy the older photos you are no longer working on to the external drive. Keep any you are currently working on, on the local PC hard drive. This will enable you to process faster, and, will also encourage you to backup your precious photos. One other thing people don't tend to ...

Re: Duchess of Cambridge honoured by RPS (Are you kidding me!)

Don't have a problem with any of the photos there. As they are of the Royal family, they would probably be considered record shots as they may hold some important significance as time goes by.

Pity she didn't photoshop them to within an inch of reality though, that's real photography nowadays.

Nifty 50 Yongnuo

As my Canon 50mm f1.4 has developed a fault, I figured that i couldn't do without one, so, I looked around for a second hand f1.8 model. I didn't find one cheap enough to tempt me, but I did find that Yongnuo had created one, new, for £43, and it came yesterday. I was wondering if anyone had one and...
