Agreed Theo. It's a subject that is up for duiscussion, hopefully without too many ingrained predujices holding it back. The raison d'etre for prints will be for exhibition and for examination of the quality. How would a monthly competition be if it were done like the Annual and all the prints we up...

Too late, we've been!

Fantastic show Des and Myra, many congratulations on the achievement.

If anyone hasn't been yet, it's thoroughly recommended and you have one more week.

:)

I found myself watching the screen and not looking at the prints because from the back I could see the detail on the screen... However, prints do have better detail, so I'd still like competitions to be prints and projected images. But digitally projected images will be the way to go I think. We had...

Competition #1 Transport

Now we have 46 members on line, time for a competition I think. The idea is to post in this thread one image on the subject, which this time is "Transport". The competition is open to everyone. Image size should be ideally no more than 600 pixels wide, to avoid scrolling. No other comments...

You'll have to ask the Treasurer about that, Steve.....

Oh, that's me, so I guess that's OK then. Seriously, we'll be delighted to see you.

No I'm not at all sure it's the projector. The next digital night will be done on my own laptop, which is much newer than the club's. If there is a significant improvement we will see it then. Obviously before we buy anything we will be as sure as we can be that a major improvement will be the end r...

So, it's either a whip-round at the club, another Lottery grant, or stick some old cameras on Ebay....?

I've now been trying Firefox 2 for long enough to be sure that it has solved any login problems. If you install and run it as a second web browser without importing any information and without making it your default then it will be a totally clean installation and it won't carry over any problems. I...

The Deadly Trap

I'm referring to the deadly trap of acquiring and carrying far too much gear. We start off with a simple camera, find we like it, get an extra lens or two, perhaps a flash gun, some filters of all different sizes for all the lenses, spare batteries, memory cards (or films!), and so on and so on. The...

100MP Camera

I am of course referring to the Scando Icoss/9 scanning camera. For use with stationary subjects in constant lighting, the CCD array is 3 pixels wide and 8192 pixels high, giving a 29x43mm image size at 8192x12300 pixels. Standard lenses are either the Rodenstock Rodagon WA 60mm f4 or the Schneider ...

We have now ordered 200 boards, so those who have made requests here are sure to get a supply, with plenty left over for the rest of the club. If the demand is greater, perhaps because people want more than one lot of 10, then we can always order again. We should have the boards by the end of next w...

If you want to try it for a week let me know and I'll bring it down on thursday.
That would be very helpful, thanks!

Thanks also for both the replies so far. The Panasonic was one I looked at and will get some further research.
