Re: Edit my image - Beamish Rail Bridge

Hi Mel,

that font is called 'Thirty Days of Victory'. There are lots of free fonts available online, I tend to use a site called Dafont.com.

Re: Edit my image - Beamish Rail Bridge

I've got a thing about old postcards at the minute, and this image seemed to fit, so - Got rid of the cones using content aware fill and patch. Tonal contrast filter layer - Nik Colorefex pro. Blue solid colour layer - set blending mode to exclusion and drop to about 40% - this gives that nice faded...

Re: Monarch Airlines - Amateur Photographer Needed

I exchanged a few emails with them, but I wouldn't have been able to commit to it any time soon.

Re: Cropping images - Yes or No?

I suppose it's down to what we consider the 'purpose' of photography to be. If it's to derive enjoyment from, then cropping is merely a tool to enhance the aesthetic qualities of an image. If it's to present the truth, to show the world as it is, then cropping could be frowned upon. But even then, c...

Re: Alive in the Face of Death - Rankin - Walker Art Gallery

I was there last tuesday. It's a great exhibition, with some very moving images and stories behind them.

The photos of Louise Page were very powerful indeed and brought a lump to the throat.

Re: Forum Competiton #110 "Masks"

Thanks to those who entered, I don't know why I enter these because judging is certainly not my strong point. Maybe I never believe I'm going to win? Anyway, onwards... Janice - Has a lot going for it. I like the mask, I like the fact that the flower complements the colour on the mask, I like the ma...

Re: Pet Shop Boys and other Musicians

Slipknot would be good, definitely. There was an exhibition in Manchester last year of photos of Slipknot, but I never made it along unfortunately.

Re: Pet Shop Boys and other Musicians

It'd have to be Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction for me. This is a shot I took on a compact a couple of years before I took up photography as a hobby, I've love to have a proper go now. Also, Adam Ant would be great. And the Human League for a portrait shoot. And Siobhan Fahey. And... ad infini...

Re: Paloma Faith, Apollo Manchester

I had wondered about this aspect of gig photography, Philip. So if you get a photography pass you get in to take your photos and then get kicked out, but you don't have to get a ticket? I'd love to give it a go but I assume the demand for passes at venues like this would mean you'd need a bit of a t...
