Re: Trips Out

I was wondering if you ever organise any trips out, I think as a complete novice I would find going out with "real" photographers of great benefit... Hi Tracey Welcome to the Forum! :) Yes, we organise photographic trips at various times through the year (Summer mainly). If you read back ...

The Results

Thank-you to everyone who has entered. You've given me a difficult task. I could see all of the shots making it into a feature about England's Northwest in one way or another. You've also given me some ideas for places to visit. Well, I suppose there has to be a winner. I'm judging these on what gra...

I saw your earlier comment Tom. You said that you heard comments being made about the lack of slideworkers but you chose to say nothing. I just wondered why...

I have overheard in the Club Room that cameras with slide film are being taken out but not used, because members are taking out their digital cameras also and using them instead ... therein lies not only the problem but the solution ... I would welcome more slides in competitions, but you can't for...

Re: Why the Comment No Slide Takers !

Last night during the presentation a comment was passed that there are no slide takers in the club... I didn't want to speak out from the floor... but there seems to be a drive to brainwash ever so slowly everybody against slides. There's certainly no anti-slides movement within ADAPS. If no...

I thought I'd resurrect this thread to give more people a chance to air their views. Whilst I understand clubs haven't yet received any guidance from the LCPU about the future of competitions, I see that the PAGB have just launched a new competiton: ----- The Great British Cup for Projected Digital ...

Competition #2 - England's Northwest

We had a good response to the first competiton and I'd like to see more members posting images, so I've decided on a theme that every member of ADAPS should be able to take part in. The theme is 'England's Northwest' The brief: Post ONE image that you think typifies our region - it's attractiveness,...

... if the monthly competitions are there to help us take better photographs by looking at the work of others There's a message thread ongoing at DPReview.com at the moment about camera clubs/photo clubs and their seeming obsession with competitions. So, it's either a whip-round at the club, another Lottery grant, or stick some old cameras on Ebay....? :)

Re: Paper over cloth

Am i better to go for cloth or paper? The answer I guess is 'it depends'. On your intended usage and needs. Paper colorama rolls are certainly the backdrop of choice in studios. They come in large sizes, in a variety of colours, and roll up when not in use. But you do need something suitable to han...

photography is a great way to show people what a fantastic planet we live on, and it means a lot to me to be able say "yes it was really like that, I was there" I can thoroughly appreciate your point of view, Kevin. Photography as a straight record of a place, a person or an event, as opp...

I support the idea that entrants should have a declaration "not digitally manipulated" or digiltally manipulated. With the former only allowing whole image tweeks to sharpness, levels, saturation etc. Hi Sue, Hi Tom, Hi Kevin - thanks for your comments. :) I have to say though that person...
