The tail-end of the story: I sent the camera back to Value Basket and after 9 week, I got it back. I tried my new battery and it didn't work. I contacted Value Basket and the reply was that: it had been tested and that it was my battery, which wasn't a Niton one. I contacted Niton who said my batter...

That is what I'm doing. I was wondering a the problem was; a friend of mine said it could be corrupted software.

Hello all, my camera has the 'dead battery syndrome: a black battery icon, shows up in the viewfinder. If I can get into the menu, the battery shows charged. When I can manage to try and auto-focus, the lens just moves in and out but it doesn't focus. I have done a camera re-set but it hasn't cured ...
