Re: ADAPS Website 'Photo of the Week'

It's not the winning that thrills me, it's the fact that when I see my shot has made image of the week, it means I know that no bugger else supplied you with one! ;-]

Re: ADAPS best images of the year book/portfolio

Hi Tracey, Yes, this would be in addition too the year book. No way is my intention to establish some elitist faction of the club, it's just a suggestion to have, a). a selection of our best work as something for us all to aspire to, b) as something for guest speakers, judges and visiting clubs to l...

ADAPS best images of the year book/portfolio

After beeing blown away by some of ADAPS's images lately, in particular, John's Time image and Tracey's Moroccan Princess - plus many of Gerry's, it got me wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to either have a portfolio of the clubs best images or If not, then maybe a Blurb book. It woul...

Re: Can anyone remember please?

Very wise words Phil! 8) It takes a while to get used to a DSLR, especially going straight from a compact! It's easy to be overwhelmed by all the functions and settings, remember that they don't all need to be used all the time to take a photo (obviously I suppose, but it can feel like that at first...

Re: Can anyone remember please?

This is just my take, but before shelling out the best part of £500 on a (admittedly excellent) Canon G16, you would be much better off buying a proper macro lens for the same price. This is assuming you already own a DSLR of course. If you want to try-out macro for just a few tens of pounds before ...

Thanks Tracey, glad you found it so interesting. :-] I definitely recommend you get one (the DCR 150 not 250) you can get great results from them without busting the bank, see: http://www.flickr.com/groups/2011238@N25/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolas_grignon/sets/72157607220085707/ Here's a few...

Happy for anyone to check out my kit, as it were - it's not that impressive really and some people might laugh at it! :-O But I suppose it's what you do with it the counts! ;-]

Re: Pet Shop Boys and other Musicians

Good shot Tracey! Didn't know you had such good taste in music! 8) Agree with a lot of people's choices on this thread. I think my personal choice (although I can't do portraits) would be, Bowie, Alice Cooper, Bob Dylan (60s not now!!) and probably the Stones, at least Mick Jagger and Keith Richards...

Very good!

Put it this way - it helps you to get those nice 'crisp' macro shots! 8)

I'll bring the whole shebang in next Thursday then. :)

Re: 27 June 2013 - Close Up & Macro Without Tears

Thanks Gill and Tracey! :-] Glad you like them, I did put the damselfly in the annuals, but it did crap - assume you can still use it in a monthly (I haven't used it in one before)? I'm planning on bringing in some general shots I did in Cornwall next week, probably around 10 shots, so I wouldn't wa...

Re: 27 June 2013 - Close Up & Macro Without Tears

Really enjoyed tonight as macro is something that I'm quite interested in - just the time and cost of it holds me back from doing more and taking it further :( Still the best thing about tonight was George showing people that you don't necessarily need to spend a fortune to get a taste of macro phot...

Monthly Competition Rules Enquiry

Can anyone please clarify if you can use images from this years annual again in the forthcoming new season of the monthly competitions? Just to be clear, I mean images that have not been used in any prior monthly competitions, and were only used in this years annual for the first time. Thanks :-] An...
