There's always night photography, early morning mist, the occasional burst of sun or shots in the rain to inspire. And how about a studio shoot with a model?
Whwn all else fails, Photoshop beckons....

Re: Any reports on the Mamiya 645 1000s
I had one of these once and they are capable of superb results. The only problem was that the focusing and aperture scales run the opposite way to my Pentaxes. This may not at first glance seem like a big deal, but when using two systems it is important that everything works the same way round, to a...

Re: Who and why
I would like to photograph The Four Seasons in concert in their vocal prime, say from 1964 through to 1971. Then I could enjoy the photography and the music at the same time.
A cunning plan indeed.

Re: help with picture
The red eye is because the flash is so close to the camera lens and the light bounces straight off the retina, which is blood-rich and therefore red. The cures are to change the angle of the shot so the dog is not looking straight into the lens; or use a flash off the camera; use a camera with built...

Selection of Lenses
I thought we might share our ideas of what lenses we use plus any specific comments as to why. It's the equivalent of those nights we used to do at the club where members would show us the contents of their gadget bags...and i think it can help people make choices and avoid some pitfalls. I'm in fav...

When judging on the night initial impact is one thing, but subtelty is the other, and that is what tends to get overlooked. It isn't necessary to agonise over a set of prints, but I do think that three passes infront of the judge are the optimum to give a balanced view and to make sure the marking i...

My experience as a judge is that it is much better to get the entry in advance so it can have a proper evaluation. It is possible to do a fair appraisal on the night, but it is more difficult and some inconsistencies can easily creep in. As we start at 8pm if it were me judging I would want to be vi...

I absolutely agree. We now have 73 members, and that is fantastic. Of course if 73 members put four prints each into a monthly competition... Another idea that was discussed was that of adjusting the entry on a month by month basis. This would mean that members would mark their prints in an order of...
