Re: Lens help

Your 300mm lens will be enough if you use good old field craft. Walk your stream and watch the kingfisher and note where it is and at what time and you will build up a picture of its habits. Re: My first proper attempt at a studio portrait.

I have noticed the right (his left) eye looks smaller than his other and his ear(his left) looks like it is set to far back around the neck. Is this due to it being in shadow. I like the shot as I do most of your pics but that is what I noticed.

Re: camera phone

The best thing is the lack of control and being limited as this sets you free to concentrate on the image and then you use the apps to make your own images. Once you start its very liberating to just shoot and not to bother with the technical side.

camera phone

Just bought a smart phone and have been playing with the camera and the apps and I am quite surprised with the results. http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu199/markdyson/beachadaps_zps3d3868d4.jpg http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu199/markdyson/5c695695-cb2e-4687-bb33-aa66352410c6_zps38cc6d37.jpg

see highlight

Does the highlight on the front of the building spoil the image. My feeling is that it does not, what do the forum members think.

sports shot using a macro lens

I went to Astly motox race today to photo a friends sons first race and suffered some mishaps. My sons 75/300mm lens only works in manual focus and my 18/70 suddenly stop focusing at 70mm. I was left with a 30mm macro lens and I think it copped quite well. http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu199/ma...
