ADAPS Outings Suggestions

Sue and I visited Haddon Hall, near Bakewell, Derbyshire, yesterday. A fantastic hall, good grounds and lots of people floating around in Tudor dress. Interestingly, they were happy to allow photography anywhere in the house, including the use of flash . It made it a much more pleasant visit as a re...

Many thanks indeed to everyone who helped out today at The History Shop. The exhibition will now be open, and well worth a visit if you are in Wigan. I saw it briefly today as a "work in progress" and it was looking good. The History Shop is found on Library Street in Wigan town centre and...

Just wrapped up the final three shots today, apart from one outstanding that still awaits permission.

The photography part of the project will end at the end of September.

Images of England

Sometimes being part of a project can answer long standing questions about all sorts of things. Down on Chaddock Lane there is a tall (listed) wall that totally conceals the mysterious Chaddock Hall. I was delighted to find it on my list of targets, delighted to find myself one morning unlocking the...

Help at the History Shop

The ADAPS exhibition is being put up at 10:30am on Monday. Jim and Glenys have it all in hand, so many thanks to them, but help with the task of putting up the prints would be much appreciated. We have lots of retired members, so if a couple more could volunteer to help it would take a lot of pressu...

So, how many cameras do you own now John? Do you still have the Pentax compact you had at the Christmas party?
The answers are Don't Ask and Yes.

I confess

Hello, my name's John and I have to confess...I have just bought a Canon camera    Yes, a S40 compact of just 4MP and with 3 batteries and a CF card, plus all accessories, for the modest sum of £41.25 on eBay. It should be ideal for my eBay photos and for use in high-risk enviro...

McDonalds serve the food quickly I totally refute this. It's not food, more of a plasticy concooction that lies heavily on the stomach...and as for quickly... Which is of course the point you so rightly making. However, it's getting to the point where digital is not only immediate but actually bett...

I used some film!

Yes I did indeed. The last frames for Images of England are being done, and of course it is being shot on film. Kodak Supra Gold 400 Professional. So you press the shutter, but.....there's nothing to indicate success. No quick flash of the image on the rear screen. No playback. How incredibly unsati...

It worked just fine.

Nice pose and expression, perhaps a little more contrast would lift the skin tones?

Just one question, have the posts for the old forum gone for good? There will be, or is, a link to go back and read what we had before. I'm not sure where in the forum Mike put the link.... There will also be a link to take you back from the forum to the main website, as soon as it can be sorted.

I've just changed my image hosting service and now use Photobucket. This is very much easier to use than pBase, much more user-friendly.

Hope that information helps.
