Re: #220 Speed
Many thanks for you entries. All very good and an interesting mix of interpretations of the theme. The power boats and the motorbike are probably what I had in mind after a visit to Carr mill and I have similar images of both boats. All three give a very good impression of speed which isn't always a...

Re: #219 - Golden Slumbers
Oops, I am a bit late checking the results. I wasn’t expecting that in a class field.
Great pictures (John must be getting old to notice the labels on the bra strap).
This time I will check previous comps to select a subject.

Re: #216 something familiar from an unusual viewpoint
John asked "Would Jack Daniels be acceptable in the whisky glass?" I could tolerate a bourbon in the glass as long as I don't have to drink it. We went to the Manchester Whisky festival and a young friend of ours approached the specialist bourbon producer and asked "I like Jack Daniel...

Re: #216 something familiar from an unusual viewpoint
Quality rather than quantity but I guess that is what happens when the subject gets repeated (oops!). Four good images so I will pick my favourite. I will try not to deduct points for inflicting a Four Seasons jingle but I can't ignore the suggestion that Coca Cola is an acceptable amber fluid to go...

OOPS!!
I have just spotted that I have repeated Chris's theme from September.
That's what happens when you do things when you are busy and distracted.

#216 something familiar from an unusual viewpoint
It is getting hard to think of a subject!
I would like to see something from an unusual viewpoint. That could be a set up “mystery object “ type shot or a landscape avoiding the cliche shots.
See what you can do and have fun.
Closing date 16th March (nearly spring).

Re: #216 Peace
Confession time.
Those rich autumn hues were taken in June and are green in the original. I was playing with Color Effex in the Nik software and I found this effect called “indian summer” which turned it autumnal. I masked out the fisherman so he stood out.

Re: #215 Architecture
Thank you for your entries and your patience waiting for me to judge. I like all of these images. Janice: The Liverpool waterfront is a great place and I like the crowding and flattening of a long lens. The mix of architecture is interesting and the detail through the image is excellent. It has a pr...

#215 Architecture
Let's ignore the judges who downgrade images of buildings as "record shots". We will have some images of architecture and the built environment. I would anticipate some fine houses in all their glory, faded or otherwise' or maybe some detail and pattern in modern buildings. Two weeks takes...

Exhibition in Leigh
There is an excellent exhibition at the Turnpike gallery in Leigh (above the library). It is called "No Man's Land" and is based around women photographers in WW1. The images are fascinating. One photographer was official, documenting the rebuilding in 1919 but two were during the war. One...
