Re: Q1 RAW. Q2 Photoshop

Is it better to always shoot in RAW or does it only tend to be beneficial if you're wanting to do a lot of editing? Does anyone know of any YouTube videos that show how to this? Many thanks A1: Always shoot in RAW. More flexibility. A2: Phlearn has some good tutorials. For example: https://www.yout...

Paul, I hope that you have cheered up a bit since last Tuesday, that was two grumpy posts within minutes   http://www.shemazing.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/simon-cowell-656x417.jpg For the record, neither post was 'grumpy' - just expressing a different point of view. I don't think that...

I'm going to put on my Simon Cowell mask and disagree with the others, sorry. But hopefully in a constructive way to make you think more about the image. It's a colourful image but lacking in interesting content, for me... You have a couple looking quizically at the camera... peoples' backs... two r...

Re: Judging and November prints comp.

I'd actually now question whether camera club competitions have had their day. Are they still relevant to today's photography? Are we really so interested in hearing the opinions of grey haired old men and women who have been spouting the same old camera club cliches for the past 20 years and who ca...

Roxy, Music to your Ears (Warning - glamour)

My photography blog is four years old today. I published my first blog post on 19th November 2012 and have published updates every month since. I’m actually quite proud of the fact that I’ve kept the site going all this time. So many blogs launch with good intentions then fizzle out through lack of ...

Re: Judging and November prints comp.

I also make comment on what I consider to be a very poor standard of judge at the October digital event. Purely my opinion - but the judging standards went out of the window and eventually boiled down to his personal likes and dislikes. Surely we must have had other complaints about both these issu...

Re: Forum Competition #177 - Churches and Cathedrals

Thank you to everyone for a varied collection of images. Alasdair This has all the hallmarks of a classic Alasdair Field image, down to the almost de rigueur camera tilt. The building is pleasantly lit and exposed, however I feel you've taken the shot a touch too late, rendering the sky totally blac...

Very sharp images. Good stuff.

I like the purple leaves, but doesn't the small white blob bug you? (I'd have to clone it out) :D
