Re: Competition #53 SPRING
Thanks to everyone that entered. Spring seems to have taken a little holiday but hopefully will be back soon.
Crocus by Len - i like the way the delicate colours and nature of these little flowers has been caught, but for me the overall image doesn't keep your eye in, I was looking around to find some resting place. Nice effort.
Daffodils by John - a nice "bunch" of daffs with some interest in the background to give some sense of the setting. However, I would have liked to see the flowers themselves fill more of the frame and become more dominant in the image.
Peacock butterfly by Pauline - The majority of the butterfly stand out well against the pale blooms, antennae nice and sharp and well caught!
Castlerigg by Tom - this looks like a cold spring day, obviously because of the snow on the distant hills but also the treatment of the image feels cold to me. Good shot and something different.
Spring by Sue - I don't know where this great House is, but this is a nice image with the girl enjoying herself amongst the daffodils. It does feel a little in two halves to me - the flowers with the child could make one letterbox style image by themselves I think.
Spring Wood by Tracey - this has a nice "glow" about it, making it feel a little ethereal. The blues and greens go well together, difficult to get bluebells the right colour in the picture sometimes.
Pollen by Bazzasmeg - nice "portrait" of a daffodil, well framed. For me though I would have liked to have seen it sharper, although I appreciate these flowers do have some considerable depth to them.
Blossom by Philip - lovely cheery blossom on a "weeping" type tree, typical of spring. My only niggle is the figure in the orange jacket... flippin' tourists LOL.
3rd - Spring Wood by Tracey - I really like the "glow" and the feeling of warmth and sunshine it gives.
2nd - Peacock Butterfly by Pauline - well seen and caught, nice image.
1st - Castlerigg by Tom - I felt this image stood out as being a little different, nice treatment and a good composition.
So it is over to you Tom to set us another task and pronounce judgement on our efforts!!
