Competition #57 - Gardens

Post by John »

Here's what Des has set for the new competition:

Thanks Sue.
I was`nt expecting this to happen, it`s a problem what to choose but the weather is great and all the gardens are looking lovely.
I have decided that the next comp No 57 will be - GARDENS - large or small / private or public / flower beds/ watering cans / tools /wheelbarrows /
greenhouse`s / sheds -anything to do with gardens, it`s up to you .
Closing date will be midnight 17th July 2010.
Good luck to everone and enjoy.
Cheers Des.

Remember: closing date Midnight 17th July 2010
Best regards

John

Taken at Waddington, Lancashire. These gardens are kept and maintained by the residents of the village, it's lovely up there and worth a visit, especially in spring when everything is coming to life.....

My mam has always wanted a nice garden, but living in a terraced house for 40 years means you have to make the most of a yard.

Hi all,
Thank-you to everyone who entered the Gardens competition, now to the difficult bit.

Tracey, I like this very much, the path gives a good lead in,the exposure is spot on and it ticks all the boxes for me.

Bazzasmeg, In my view this is a landscape picture not a garden, although it is a nicely exposed shot of the rape field.

Sue, This is another well taken image, but i find the path a little dominant and i would have liked to have seen more of the flower beds.

Ian , Well seen, it would have been a much stronger picture if the author had got lower down to include the bottom flower fully, this would have
cropped off the very bright area at the top.

Pammie, A good attempt at a close up shot, but i find the green background a little distracting.

Bert, Well what can i say, pin sharp, great d.o.f. no distractions what so ever, a superb macro shot.

Myra, Well i know whats for dinner to-night, quite a nice image my dear.

Phil, I feel this has been rushed, moving the pots around to reveal the plate behind the Lillies, and removing the straggley plant at the bottom right
would have made a much stronger image.

John, Not sure about this one, i dont think it has quite come off. The up & down movement hasnt blured the image quite enough, only my opinion.

Mancunian, This picture doesnt gel very well for me, the rose buds would make a much better image on there own , the large flower is overpowering
in the frame, i find the vignette and coloured borders to much.

Results 3rd place Sue

2nd place Tracey

1st place Bert

Well done everyone its now over to Bert to set the next competition.

Cheers Des.

Des,
Thanks for your comments on my image, it is getting harder to think of a theme that hasn't already been covered after 57 competitions, I have a couple in mind and will post one asap.
Bert.
