Competition #74 Garden Birds
Competition #74 Garden Birds
After much thought I have decided on garden birds, we have some colourful little chaps visiting our garden and parks at the momment. Comp ends midnight on the 29th August. Happy snapping

"A Young Chaffinch" - This bird is actually sat on my finger (with gloves) and was taken with the same compact camera that I used for the last competition - who needs a tele lens when you can get them to pose for you!

Re: Competition #74 Garden Birds
Thanks for all the entries. There are plenty of great shots to choose from which makes the judging all that more difficult.
John Chaffinch:
A nice sharp image of the Chaffinch, but I find the leaves are a little distracting
Stelee Starling.
A clear, sharp shot that shows the bird at work. Cropping out some of the tree would have made for a stronger image
Carl A Young Chaffinch
A real close-up of the young bird which is clear, sharp and well lit
Stu B Dunnock
A good pose from the bird but I feel that there is a little too much grain and this spoils the shot
Steewood Grubs Up
A good balanced shot of the feeding bird, no background distractions and good lighting.
Bert Chaffinch in flight
A great shot of a bird coming into land, sharp around the eye and details in the wings.
Ianuk 50 Siskin
Two for the price of one! Good detail on the LH bird and slight movement on the RH as he feeds, well taken.
Keasla Scruffy Robin
Well-lit, great feather detail and the blurred back ground helps make this scruffy chap stand out very well.
Pauline Willow tit
A well lit shot but not quite sharp. Cropping out the LH leaf would have improved the shot
GerryG Bird on a wire
A well composed, well lit shot. Good feather detail and a shallow DOF has made the bird stand out.
Tracey Spadger
A well composed shot, well lit and sharp where it counts. The small leaf behind the bird’s head is a little distracting
Mancunian Just chillin
The dove looks like it is enjoying the warm sun on its wings. A clear shot of the bird but the background is a little distracting
Dave Hutchinson Starling
A clear, well balanced and well it shot with plenty of feather detail. The DOF helps the bird stand out.
The results;
!st Place ~ Bert with his Chaffinch in flight
2nd place has to be shared between
Kelas, Gerry G and Steewood
Thanks again for entering the Competition. Best regards, Barry
