We've all seen them, musicians to mime artists.
Performers in the town centres etc.

Competition closes midnight 28th February.

I'm going to go for the terrific expression on this guy's face. I call it "Inner Peace". He was one of a troupe of artistes who ply their trade on the street and at places like Blists Hill Victorian Town.

I took this shot in 2012 at the Edinburgh Fringe. This lady did a 10 minute act bursting balloons with a bull whip & balancing on top of the ladder, held by the guy behind. It's among many taken over the years, why I chose this one was the cheeky chappy peering over the railings top left. BTW my wife has now joined the forum & will be submitting her own entry, the reason I'm telling you this, shortly after I took this shot she fell off a plinth she had climbed to get a better view, shook her up but she survived.

As you probably know Paris has all sorts of street performers in particular the silent mime artists, we bumped into this one during a trip to Paris and became quite engrossed in his act during which he agreed to pose for some photographs this being one of them, he also took the time to explain the act and give us a personal basic history lesson of silent mime which was very interesting. the image brings back fond memories of a good trip.

I have now registered, I'm Eric's wife, this picture was taken during our Somerset Summer stroll, in the lovely City of Bath, there were many street artists, I took this shot of Eric taking a shot of one of them.

This aged gentleman was "performing" in a doorway next to Primark in Manchester. He was strumming away with his right hand, but his left hand had never seen a chord book in its life. But hey, give the guy 10 out of 10 for initiative!

My entry. Taken in Manchester near Tibb street. Bit of work on the background to blur and convert to black and white.

Sorry for my tardiness in posting the results etc, but this wasn't easy.
I hope no-one is upset by any comments.

The prize (price) of winning is to judge so I hope
to do my best. Not being long at this I can only say what
I like and interests me and catches my eye.

Here goes.

John:Inner Peace
I really like this image, even in colour its mostly B&W,
his expression is great, Bliss Hill you say.
The background contributes to the stripes and is not obtrusive,
then a great red heart to catch the eye.

Janice:Take A Seat
How is he doing it? The expresion on the young boys face is the best bit for me. Good interaction with the artist, pity the suitcase is there in my opinion to make him look more mysterious\seperated from the background.
Great capture.

Yachtsman1:
Glad to hear the wife survived. The scene is an interesting one with good colours and equipment all around, the young chap looking on etc, pity there is no ladder balancing and whipping to show her in action.

DennisG:Parisian street mime artist.
Great image works well in mono with a few colours retained, love the pose and expression, background nicely subdued.

Lisacroft:Folkstone body paint artists
Lots of semi-naked women covered in paint, I looked at this for a long time...
Fantastic colours and subject, for me its very busy and distracting in places, unfortunately when the street is the background that's usually the case. I like it better cropped at the photographer leaving just the 3 ladies on the right. Well spotted subject.

MrsYachtsman1:Bath
Welcome to the forum and your 1st forum comp.
Sunny day in Bath and a good picture of Eric at work.
My eyes are drawn unfortunately to Eric and the Summer Sale sign
as the artist doesn't seem to be the subject of the picture, although she is interesting, bear foot in the shade of the lovely hanging flowers.
Well taken photograph but would have liked it to have been more of the guitarist.

Melbarnes:Manchester Busker
This image tells a story. Well caught expression and action.
I see him down and out, life on a trolley, playing for a coffee.

Sue:Wind Swept Man
Well took, got eye contact too and expression. I took some of him on the walk with Gerry but none as good as this.

Lovely subject different from the artists in the UK I've seen.
Nice crisp image with a beautiful background and vignette.
Love the monkey.

Ian Yarwood:Sax Player in Manchester
I personally like the colour on mono effect on (some) images and think this suits it. Artist is nice and clear with interesting but not overwhelming surroundings.
Great picture.
