Here we go, first again!!! My image is from an AV show from 2007, as far as I can remember it comes in the "simple class" it is from a show called "The Autumn Dales" One of my first forays into AV.

Hi All

Apologies for the delay posting my feedback and results, but here goes...........

Yachtsman1
This image had great potential to be a simple shot but I found I was distracted too much with the twigs, tyre tracks and the odd leaf to the left of the frame. All of this was taking my eye away from the main subject of the leaf which I found too central in the frame. I think also, that had the leaf been turned round to face the camera, it could possibly have had more impact.

John
This is a very simple image which fits the brief nicely. I really like the pose of the model and the look of serenity about her. I found some of the highlights a bit on the strong side and I couldn't make my mind up if the grain added or detracted from the image, I decided in the end that it added :)

Bazzasmeg
I really like the detail in the flower and the bee added interest. I really like the simplicity of the colours, lilac on green. I think this would have been a stronger image had it been the right way round and not on such a bold back ground, I kept getting a crick in my neck trying to have a good look at it  The image was nice and sharp where it needed to be and had good depth of field to throw the background nicely out of focus.

Mike Aspinall
A very simple image of an Aston Martin badge on a plain background, which ensures your attention is drawn where it needed to be, which is on the badge which is nice and sharp and makes for an excellent record shot.

BydoR9
As soon as I saw this image it had impact, the deep pink of the flamingo against the plain black background draws your attention straight away. The lovely "S" curve of the neck and beak makes for a lovely composed image. I really like this image and it's what I was looking for when I set the brief.

Paul Jones
Another excellent image and again, fits the brief perfectly. Although a simple image, I expect it took along time to execute. Finding the right stones, getting them to balance on a plain background and foreground. Getting the lighting just right. I appreciate that a lot of effort had been put into this image, which has been made simpler still by the mono treatment.

Mel Barnes
Yes, another simple image which fits the brief. The egg sits nicely on the thirds and I like how you have included the reflection into what looks like a black marble top. The use of one light ensures there is a shadow cast around the right side of the egg, had there been more lights the egg would have appeared flat and the impact would have been lost.

Now for the results.........

3rd - Bazzasmeg - this would have scored more had there not been such a heavy, tilted background - sorry
2nd - Paul
1st - BydoR9

Just so you know, I really struggled to pick a first place as I liked both Pauls and Andy's images equally and changed my mind several times before making my final decision, then I changed my mind again. They both fitted the brief perfectly and both had qualities that I really liked but I think it was the unusualness of Andy's image which tipped the scales ever so slightly. Sorry Paul, because I really liked your image too.

So it's over to you now Andy.......

Thanks Tracey.

Andy's image is a worthy winner.

The stones were found on a beach on a family holiday and so are a reminder of happy times. :D

Thanks for the comments Tracey - I was fairly pleased that the shot came out as expected - the only problem is that the black marble hearth that it was taken on was not pure black - it had little flecks in it that made the hearth look dirty. I think it would have been a better reflection without those flecks. Also to Andy: a well-deserved winner - I thought that this shot really had the "wow" factor.
