Prompted by the recent birth of our Beautiful Granddaughter Mollie (see images section) let's see what you can show me for this one.
Doesn't have to be baby pictures of course. Just as it says on the tin - new life wherever/however you see it.

When we lived in Wensleydale we attended 3 Churches in rotation, all had much support from the farming community. We missed the first lambing season but got permission to come & help & of course take pictures of the second. Between us we had around 50 pictures, some too gory to show on here but they are included in our subsequent AV show, "Springtime Dales" for which I'll post the link when the comp' finishes. I took this one of Margaret who had thrown her new D40 camera to one side to help a ewe in difficulties giving birth to triplets.

As Eric said, we had a lot of pictures to choose from, some too gory, but graphic illustrations of the difficulties sheep go through when giving birth. The one I chose hopefully has the "awe" factor.

A New Beginning, the first crocus of spring.

This is the "Old Man" - a tradition in India (similar to our Guy Fawkes tradition) whereby the kids build a "guy" and set fire to him on New Year's Eve to represent the death of the "past life", and the start of a "new life" in the new year. The kids ask you for money "for the old man" as you pass by;p you are expected to donate, and if you return the same way (even if a few minutes later) you are expected to donate again. I gave 200 rupees (just over £2) in the first one, then there was another about 50 yds up the road, then another around the corner, and by the time we got back from our walk, we had encountered at least two dozen. I had 2500 rupees on me when I left the hotel (just to buy drinks on our walk) and nothing when I got back!! When I told the hotel manager of the fun we had, he said "you are only expected to donate 10 rupees or less". This put it into context, given the fact that our waiter's day wage was only 200 rupees.

O.K. Good people thanks for your entries. Now comes the hard part.

YACHTSMAN:-

I like this image because it tells a story. To be able to do what your Good Lady did is very admirable but the picture just
doesn't quite make it for me. Nice try though.

MRS YACHTSMAN:-

Yes your picture does have the 'awe' factor but for me has a little too much in it. I wonder if it would have more impact
if it was split down the middle and the right hand of the image just then had a 'mother and baby' feel to it. again a nice try.

ANDY:-

Well - three little ducks 'all in a row' certainly fits the bill my friend. Clean, sharp and certainly cute with even 'eye contact'.
As usual a great image from you and I like it a lot.

BIG JOHN:-

This is a typical shot from you Sir and your interpretation of the subject. The problem for me is that I'm not a
'flower' person although I can appreciate some flower pictures. This one is not for me I'm afraid.

MEL;-

Please do not be offended by my words here. The story is great but without it the picture is meaningless. I would have had
no idea what it represented without your comments. As a reminder of your trip it will have memories for you but for this
subject it doesn't get my vote I'm afraid. Sorry Mel.

JANICE:-

Breaking Bud has a lovely feel to it. The colours on the buds are great and give the texture a warm feeling. I wonder however if the stem is a little too long and takes up two thirds of the picture. Nice try though.

TRACEY:-

This scores on every level and in this case the last is the best. The interaction between Mother and Baby is spot on. The crop is perfect
and of course the whole image is as sharp as can be. For someone who has lost her Mojo when you get it back we are all in trouble.

So it comes down to this.
