183 GREEN
183 GREEN
Continuing the colour theme on again, as I can't think of anything else!
I've always been annoyed by the fact that judges hate the colour green, so for that reason alone I want to see the colour green strongly represented in your images. Very green mind you, i.e. Kermit the Frog lying on a lawn, drinking green tea, listening to Greensleeves, green.
Comp ends midnight Sunday 26th March.
Best of luck!
Andy.

OK, as Slim Shady once said - lets get down to business!
Many thanks to those who entered.
Salford Quays Lift Bridge - Jojo
A nice graphic shape here which seems to have been coloured-up green in post - not an issue, as it looks good against the purple sky in a wacky colours way. The main issue I do have though, is that the symmetry is slightly off.
At One With Nature - Green Party Candidate - Mike
Really like this Mike. A great portrait that certainly fits the green brief and particularly as we head into spring! I personally would have just called it The Green Man, but that doesn’t lose you any marks.
One Green Bottle... - John
10 green bottles, hang it on your wall! Simple but effective green on green here. A dangling bottle to add that bit of tension that judges are always banging on about. Not too keen on that wheel popping into frame though.
Millennium Bridge Salford Quays - Janice
Similar comments here Janice as Jojo’s image - striking graphic shapes, nice wacky colour scheme (I assume photographed as they were on the night in this case), but again the symmetry is off. In terms of my judging overall, however, I do prefer this image slightly more than Jojos - personal taste.
Fifty shades of green - Mel
This still needs 35% more Hank Marvin i.e. the addition of some shadows! That aside I like the image.
Monkey Puzzle - Gordon
This is something I’ve had a crack at - I can’t resist the natural repeating patterns in a Monkey Puzzle tree. I like the shape and composition that you’ve chosen, but I think that if you had diffused the light somewhat to reduce those harsh shadows (75% less Hank in this case ) then you would have been able to reveal a lot more detail. I also think that image stacking would have been a good trick for this subject - something you might want to have a go at?

Thanks Andy ( I think).
'Thinking cap needed' time methinks.

Thanks for your comments Andy. I sadly can't take credit for the colours, that's how it came out of the phone

Re: 183 GREEN
Thanks for the helpful comments - I like the idea of the Hank as a unit of shadow.
I was out in the cemetery at Kendal trying to photograph the fantastic display of crocuses but I always get sidetracked by the monkey puzzle. I thought about focus stacking but it is a huge tree with long swinging branches that move slightly in any wind.
