#212 FILM TITLES

The 212th competition, and still going strong !!

My topic is FILM TITLES - and as per the last competition by Sue Riley, I'd like to see your interpretation - the more unusual the interpretation, the better!

As it is the busy time of Christmas, I'll give a little longer for the competition, so the closing date will be midnight on Saturday 15 December.

Get your thinking caps on, and good luck!

Mel

My choice is Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, and here is a posterised image of the original Jersey Boy, Frankie Valli. Originally hailing from Newark, New Jersey, young Francesco Steven Castellucio has done pretty well in a singing career that spans, so far, an amazing 66 years.

Sue
A well processed composite of The Lion King. I like how you’ve done the background – it has a foam board type of texture. Not so sure about blue eyes for a lion though! A clever interpretation of the film.

Janice
Simple but effective idea - I really like how you’ve captured the sun framed by the clouds. Would love to see more detail in the Ena Mill chimney, and it would benefit from removing the halo around the chimney.

Neil
This made me laugh – and I think there’s a chip shop with this name, too! A creative effort with amusing effect, and good use of the liquefy tool here to create a “fish face”. “The more unusual the better” was the brief, and this fits it perfectly.

John
I really like posterised images - with just a few brush strokes and colours, you can really capture the characteristics of people. You’ve made a great composite here, and although the posterisation is slightly strong (it would have been nice to see some slight facial detail in the band members), nevertheless it is a good interpretation of the film.

Mike
This is an excellent shot and is a perfect match for the film . The human eyes peeping through the mask really make an impact to this monochrome image.

Neil (actually Joan?)
Is this your Christmas message to me, Neil? (LOL). Good job you didn’t go for Thunderball! Great and amusing interpretation of Goldfinger.

Joanne
I hope you got permission for this one!! LOL. Clever use of the transform tool here to narrow the face. I think that the image would benefit from making the stars brighter, otherwise it seems that there’s a lot of empty space to the left.

Graham
Excellent photo of a young elephant, with the background nicely out of focus. My eye is drawn to the bright green grass - if you select the background and darken it a bit, it would make the elephant more prominent. In any case a solid interpretation of the film.

Thanks for all your great interpretation of film titles – there’s been some great attempts here, and these are my preferences:

1st place goes to Neil for “The Cod Father”

2nd place goes to Sue for “The Lion King”

3rdt place goes to Mike for “The Mask”

Now over to you Neil, to choose another subject for the competition.

Excellent competition!

Well done to all who entered, and to those that didn't, where were you?

Looking forward to the next challenge and I've made a personal decision that for these competitions I'm going to try to shoot something new for them, rather than looking to my archive of images. We'll see how long that New Year's Resolution lasts!

Thank you Mel ,after all the threats and bullying that I was subjected to on Thursday night it was a relief to find that I had won ,I will sleep easier now. My choice is a seasonal one ,so the next comp is ------ "What does Christmas mean to you " is it lights, booze, markets , food, presents or the more original religious concept , so please give us some pictures showing your own personal view of" Christmas ".
