Competition #242 - Great Britain

Post by Paul Jones »

This competition theme is Great Britain.

Our locations... Our people... Our food... Our culture... Our stiff upper lip... Our humour... Our history... Our resilience in the face of adversity...

Post ONE photo per entrant that conveys what makes Britain great for you.

The closing date is midnight on Saturday 22. August.

Thank you for all the entries. I'm not going to pass comment or critique, as they are all fine photographs in their own right.

There were a couple that particularly stood out for me. 'Land Ladies' by Andy (BydoR9) and 'Spitfire' by Simon. Andy's image captures the spirit of the British people and is a very good group portrait with lots of character; whilst the Spitfire flying high, for me, is a symbol of what makes this Land of Hope and Glory of ours so great. Indeed, who couldn't fail to be moved by the sight of a Spitfire and a Hurricane taking to the skies once more for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight in April to mark the 100th birthday of Captain Tom Moore.

I kept going back and forth to decide the winner. In the end, I have chosen Simon's 'Spitfire'.

Over to Simon to set the next competition.
