Re: Edge Hill University 24th July
Hi Walter, I have managed to gain permission to photograph in the university grounds (the university is in Ormskirk). Edge Hill University has undergone some major modifications and expansion recently, and there are modern buildings, informal gardens, water features, and a lake (large pond). I am hoping to take a couple of models (friends' daughters) along with me - but I am awaiting confirmation from them. There is a large modern building which houses a cafe and mini-market, and we can have a coffee there after the shoot; in the event of bad weather there is the opportunity to photograph inside this building.
There are two entrances (both with traffic lights) to the university from the main road into Ormskirk (St Helens road, the A570) - 300 yards apart or so; the one we should take is the "old" entrance nearest to Ormskirk which has a security lodge as you enter. You need to inform security that you are joining the ADAPS photography group, and they will direct you to car park B - turn right as you leave the security lodge. I've produced maps as an MS Word Doc and a Power Point presentation, but unfortunately this website doesn't allow those documents to be attached, so you'll have to use the postcode on Google Maps to see the entrance to the university.
We have to meet at 7pm sharp at the reception, since we will be escorted by the head of security (Andy - himself a keep photographer). He will show us the interesting parts of the site for photography, and indicate the areas where we are not allowed to photograph (e.g. accommodation blocks). Reception is in the large building directly facing you as you turn off the main road and pull up at the security lodge on your left.

You could save the map as a JPEG and upload that to the forum (max width 800 pixels).melbarnes wrote: I've produced maps as an MS Word Doc and a Power Point presentation, but unfortunately this website doesn't allow those documents to be attached

Re: Edge Hill University 24th July
Thanks Paul re saving it as a jpeg. I've done that so many times from Powerpoint, but I was in a hurry to go out when I got the request from Walter, and it never crossed my mind to change it to jpeg! I've done the conversion now, but it's fairly pixelated - hopefully everyone will be able to read it, or better still to search on Google and compare it with the jpeg for a better view.

Hi Danny, the models are Naomi (daughter of Chris Stevens) and Caitlin (daughter of a friend of mine), and you can see them both in the Portraits section of my website: www.melbarnesphotography.com. Hope you are coming along - it should be a good night.

Re: Edge Hill University 24th July
Sorry gents - only just seen your questions - I've not had much time to get on the PC today, because I've been clearing out the loft in readiness for installation of insulation.
