This Thursday is the first of two nights this week and heralds the Set Subject competition. Sport was asked for, and we'll now see the mettle of our sports photographers!

The judge is Nick Hilton.

A really good competition tonight - well organised by Keith (thanks!) and well judged by Nick Hilton with some constructive feedback. Thoroughly enjoyable!

It was a great competition and bless Nick Hilton for uttering those immortal words 'hold that back' about all 3 of my images. That was my second ambition achieved.

Hi,
Nick was very impressed with the standard of entries, as I am sure we all were. Following on from this night we will be discussing the inclusion of a dedicated sports section in the annuals at the next committee meeting.

It's rare that I walk away from a competition night without thinking the judge had robbed someone or was rude etc (maybe not having any images in myself helped ). Nick was first class in his scoring and critique. That and the general high standard of work on show made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

My initial opinion about not having a dedicated sports category has now been reconsidered

Well done to all involved and to Jared for the winning images.
