Thursday 30th November - John Barton ARPS - My Way with Digital Monochrome

Post by John Hardman »

John Barton is a photographer who has specialised in monochrome photography for over 40 years. In that time his main interest has been in photographing the natural landscape and smaller natural objects.

He converts a digital image to monochrome which enables the him to emphasis the drama of light, shade and form in the subject.

The first half of the evening is a digital presentation for which he will use a laptop and projector. In the second half he will show some prints on the easel.

I am sure you will all enjoy the evening that John has prepared.

Just wanted to post my appreciation to John Hardman and tonight's guest speaker John Barton. For a very informative and enjoyable evening, Although Landscapes or churches, Are not really my thing. I learned so much in the processing of the images, from HDR to the final finished image. So much so I just had to give it a try when I got home.... It was such a shame we asked him to curtail his talk by 9:30... Thank's again to both the John's....!!

Not the best image you will ever see. But the first landscape HDR I could put my finger on.... I'm very sure you guy's n girls can do far better... Was just the fact that I was intrigued...
Regards

Stuart....

I found it helpful too. May get around to trying what I've learned some time
Thanks to John (and nice to know even experienced people have computer difficulties too  )

Glad to hear it was well received, although John wasn't asked to curtail his talk, so not sure where that thought came from.
Best regards

He mentioned in his talk he had to be finished by 9:30 PM. To enable us to have a cup of tea...!! If that wasn't brought about by ourselves then I offer an apology....

No problem or need for an apology Stuart. He gave me an approximate time he'd be finished by as a guide to when we should start making the tea. Two 45 minute sections takes us to 9.30-ish, in fact a bit beyond that as it turned out. That's no doubt where it comes from then! 8)
Best regards

John
