Cheeky request!
Cheeky request!
Is there an adaps member out there who has a carbon fibre tripod that folds-up small?
Here's the cheeky bit - if so, would they be able to lend/hire it out to me for my trip to New York in a few weeks?
Many thanks.
Andy.

Re: Cheeky request!
Hi Andy
Unfortunately I don't have one but if I had, I would have gladly let you borrow it. Not just saying that coz I haven't got one, I genuinely would have.
Hope you manage to lay your hands on one though.
Have a fab trip to New York x

Re: Cheeky request!
Thank you for your very kind gesture Tracey - much appreciated.
Expect loads of cliched yellow taxis and statue of liberty shots
P.S. gutted they've got rid of that toy shop with the Big piano that Tom a Hanks danced on. Was hoping to do the chopsticks with Robert Loggia.

Re: Cheeky request!
Thanks for the offer Terry, but it doesn't seem much different from my Manfrotto in terms of size and weight, so will have to decline. I need it to fold down small and be carbon fibre for lightness.
Many thanks though!

Re: Cheeky request!
Thanks Gordon - looks like we all bought heavy sturdy tripods when we started out with this hobby!
Re: Cheeky request!
That's because they are the only ones that are any good!
How about a sturdy table top tripod that can be placed against walls or trees, put on the tops of tables and can be carried virtually without any weight penalty? I can lend you such a beast, but be warned when folded it will make the scanner operators at the airport want to have a closer look.

Re: Cheeky request!
Many thanks both John and Chris!
Chris, 1.6kg is quite light, but I could do with lighter - travelling with my wife where luggage space/weight is at a premium. Too be honest she might not be happy with me even taking one if it was just half a kilo - I really haven't thought this through have I!?!
John, what's the weight of yours then? Wouldn't mind having a look at it please.
Thanks again guys.
Andy.

Re: Cheeky request!
Hi Andy.
Just an idea, but have you thought about buying one while you're actually over there? I don't know what the pound is like against the dollar at the moment, but it might be worth looking into.
Regards,
Phil.

Re: Cheeky request!
Many thanks indeed John!
Phil - thought did occur to me originally - the way the pound is at the moment though, I think I'll struggle to make much of a saving. I couldn't have picked a worst time to go really.
