Lightroom 3 beta available

Post by sunsworth »

For anyone using Lightroom there's a public beta of the next version available from Adobe...

There are also three films showing some of the new features...

I certainly wouldn't use it to replace Lightroom 2, it's an early beta and there may be compatibility issues with the final release. Still, it means there's a new version due out before too long.

very impressed with the beta so far

Whilst testing v 1 and v2 i used beta's the whole time without major incident.

as v3 does not upgrade your existing lightroom library its safe to use, as it installs as a separate entity, i particularly like the new import functions, grain and noise reduction enhancements.

Yes, I endorse your evaluation of the grain and noise reduction in Ver 3, they are very impressive. I must now force myself to get into the habit of using Lr instead of automatically going into PS.

I've been using Lightroom more and more. I used to just use it as a catalogue and RAW processor before taking the photograph into Photoshop, and while I still use Photoshop on most images the ability to have multiple 'virtual' copies with different processing in Lightroom is very useful.

I really need to get a decent Lightroom book as I'm sure I'm only scratching the surface of what it can do. I'll probably wait until Martin Evening brings out the Lightroom 3 version of this book...
