I'd suggest local computer shop. They should be able to put your drive in a new computer as a backup. That's what I did. new PC, old harddrive as a storage drive plus external drives as needed.
Best regards

John

You need some kind of data recovery software Danny.
It most likely won't be able to recover directories, but may be able to pick up files (not file names).

Did I read that you had mounted the drive as an external/second drive? What size is the drive

Do you roughly know the location your photos were in? (ie My Computer/My Pictures, or c:\Photos etc)?

I have recovered files for others, but, as an indication, a friends 250Gb drive, I once recovered all his files (although unstructured), but it ran for the best part of two weeks. the best software to use is always paid for. The best ones also have fileters, so, if your photos are always over 8Mb, you can search for files only that are over this size etc.
