free continuous ink system
free continuous ink system
My Epson stylus photo R200 died the other day so I now have a redundant 6 colour continuous ink system. This will fit the R200 and the R300. It will save a small fortune in ink costs. If you want it, it's free and I'll even help you fit it. 1st come 1st served.
Re: free continuous ink system
Very kind offer Berny, hopefully someone will be asble to benefit.
Best regards
John

Re: free continuous ink system
Hi Berny,
And if it doesn't fit a 1400 for Len then how about a R285? in which case I would be more than happy to take it off your hands.
I was thinking of getting one for it anyway, so would you recommend them and have you had any problems with it?
reagrds, keith.

Re: free continuous ink system
Len,
No I don't think it will go with the 1400. The problem is that the ink is fed into dummy cartridges which are different for most models. The r200 & r300 use the same print engine. Only difference being the card reader on the 300 so they use the same cartridge.
I'm fairly certain the 1400 uses different cartridges. Sorry.

Won't fit the 285 either.
I highly recommend the system though. I've had terrific results on my r2400. It's the quill system from fotospeed. It was a bit more tricky to fit than the r200 due to the A3 width and I did a slight mod to prevent the tubes wearing on the printhead carraige.
It's very easy to refill & I get my ink from fotospeed which is very high quality and I am very pleased with the monochrome prints. (the 2400 uses three shades of black.)
Don't be tempted to by a cheap one from ebay etc.

Re: free continuous ink system
Hi Berny i have a R340 which uses the same ink cartridges i think but looking at the costs of the inks at fotosense they seem a lot higher than the original cartridges, do you get a lot more output prints than cartridges
If you do and the offer is still open i'd like to give it a go please.

Re: free continuous ink system
Hi Lee
Sorry to take so long to respond, I've been away.
The fotospeed (not fotosense) ink that I use is supplied in quite large bottles (125 ML). I can't remember how much per bottle because it last so long. However, it is much cheaper per print than genuine Epson inks and produces as good if not better quality. I decided to use it for two reasons. 1. it's much cheaper. 2. It gives brilliant black & white prints with no colour cast on my R2400. That might not be true with your model but you will certainly save on ink costs. Another consideration is that there is quite a lot of ink left in the system I am giving away. So, even if you try it and don't like it, you can switch back to the old system and you will have lost nothing.

Re: free continuous ink system
Thanks bernie I have had another look on the ink site and yes when you look at the quantities it does make sense that you will save money over the cost of ink, So if i can i would like to try it out please.

I brought the ink system tonight but had to leave early as I am not well.
I have left it on the table in the back room along with a set of instructions. These are for the r2400 as I can't find the original instructions but you should be able to muddle through with them. There is a section on priming the cartridges prior to installation (sections 10 to 12). I think you will need to do this as the system has bee stood idle for some weeks.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Cheers
