Epson V700 scanner

Post by barriew »

Hi All
I was lucky to get a Christmas present of a Epson V700 scanner, has anyone used one of these, as I would like to scan some of my 4x5 negs from my sinar P2 large format camera, anything I should watch out for in terms of problems with scanning such large negs? I also understand that the file sizes would be quite big.

Barrie, I am looking at the V700 and the V750. Have read about both and of the solution and special carrier needed - but search around the forums to make your own mind up about this option. Regards

Thanks for the reply Walter, I spoke to someone you has used one of these scanners with 4x5 negs, and is very pleased with the results. I'm hoping to set it up soon so I can try for myself.

Curiously the prices of the V700/ V750 have increased by £80-100 at a local photo store who also trades online, in the last few weeks, this including a reduction in the VAT rate!?

Walter

Unfortunately I think this is a sign of things to come.
I bought my Canon EF 24 - 105 lens just about 12 months ago for £ 579 (after rebate) The best I can find now is £ 719.

A friend of mine imports industrial equipment from Europe and the US. He has had to put his prices up by 12 - 14% and may have to increase them further.

What is really scary is what it will do to the price of a bottle of wine. :-d

When wine gets to be that dear ... we could start a wine appreciation club and makes lots of it until we get it just right ... and as for the scanner - I will bide my time ...
