I was browsing around Classic Camera Company in Manchester and on the counter was a Hasselblad 500cm. What a camera, it was the black with brushed alluminium finish version and as soon as i picked it up it felt
right. A real proper camera that i would love to own and use. Thanks to all the digital slr users the price has come right down. The 500cm complete with 80mm lens and waist level finder around £600 to £700, another £100 to £150 gets you a prism finder. This makes it about the same price as a enthusiasts level dslr but better looking. If money is no object you could get a digital back, if thats your thing. Right got the pen now for six numbers, sorry i am not telling you which six numbers.

Mark, that 80mm Carl Zeiss lens is probably the finest lens ever made, for any camera.

Seems as though a few of us have been out and about this weekend, and despite the six hour trek with ten plus kilos of gear on my back, there was something special in using the medium format ... as for the Hasselblad, think I live a little closer to it than you Mark

If you want to save a few pounds on the prism viewer, the one for the Russian Hassleblad copy the Kiev 88 will fit. These turn up on eBay in metered and unmetered versions.

As far as I'm aware the viewfinders are the only interchangable parts shared by both cameras. My experience of the Kievs has not been positive. I think I still have one somewhere that I haven't been bothered to put in the bin.

When I was looking for a 'real' MF camera I went down the Rolleiflex route. I've promised myself I'll use that camera more this summer. The Hassie is the other classic though and the prices are finally reasonable.

Just been browsing the forum and noticed this posting for the first time, don't know how I missed it, but then again dont know how you missed this either, (especially as I offered it to through the club forum first before sticking it on ebay).
