Hi Paul

I like the modelling on her face but not sure if her expression is engaging enough, her lips are smiling slightly but this isn't coming across in her eyes. I find the shadow on her boobs a bit distracting and the one on her face caused by her hair. Sorry, it's not one of my favourites of yours.

Thanks for commenting, Tracey.

I can totally accept your comments and am not precious about the photo. I know that it's not one of my best, but I still like things about it, in particular the rather muted expression.

Thanks again
Paul

The expression is OK for me, but the distracting thing is the cutaway dress. What am I to look at? I think we have a couple of distracting elements, whereas the face is I think quite a poignant expression.
Best regards

See, the thing is, that I think the dress makes the picture.
I like the shape that the hole in the dress makes.
And most blokes would look right at her cleavage.

But, it's interesting that the photo is at least causing some debate on the forum.
That's surely a good thing.
Thanks for commenting.

I like the mood created by the lighting, and the expression on her face - the only thing I would change is that I'd like to see a bit more detail in the dress - at the moment it seems to blend in the background as one single colour, without any shape to it.

I have now Paul, and understand what you were trying to achieve.

I was reading your blog for a while tonight, but passed over that particular article when I was distracted by a telephone call !

Did you use a single strobe at 45 degrees to the left, plus a reflector for this shot??

No. There's a single catchlight in her eyes at the 12 o'clock position.
That tells you that my single light was directly above her.

I think I would have brought in a reflector under her chin. I often do.
Clamshell lighting.

Thanks for looking and commenting Mel.
