Competition 15 - The Sun
Hi
Oh my god, I can't believe I won the latest competition, now I have the responsibility of picking the next topic and judging it - ooohhhhh myyyyyy godddddd - yikes.
I think I am going to choose "The Sun", I'm a big fan of sun rises and sun sets and this time of year (if can get up early enough) you can get some really good dramatic skies. But your entry could be anything at all to do with the sun.
I'll set a closing date of 2 weeks from today, so that'll be Sunday 1st June at midnight.
Good luck everyone.
Tracey

Re: Competition 15 - The Sun
Gosh - this has been sooooo hard, didn't realise how difficult it was to judge like this, the pressure...!!!!! Well here goes:
John - Fantastic colours, really strong. Liked how the sun was picked up in the wet sand in the foreground.
Myra - Similar to John's although I liked how you decided to go for a portrait shot rather than landscape, this enabled you to include the detail of the clouds above the sun, also liked the border which set off the shot nicely.
Sunworth - Nice composition although the centre looked faded compared to the sides.
Bazzameg - Nice harbour shot, you have managed to capture all the detail of the boats in the foreground and the buildings in the background without creating silouettes of them which can sometimes happen when taking shots at this time of day. Lovely pink sunset.
Sue - Liked the colours in your sky, paricularly liked how the orange reflected on the wet paving stones. The headlights of the cars drew my eyes away from the sky though and I wasn't sure about the dark patch on the right side.
Paul - Really like this shot, very dramatic sky, liked how the little boy's silouette created interest, good composition. Pity about the security water mark though, I know this is there to stop people nicking your photos but it does create a distraction.
Des - Really good shot of a lone iron man on Crosby Beach, either that, or it's someone trying to top himself...!!! Loved the muted colours of the sky while the detail of the sea and man are clear.
Pammie - Gosh, this is unusual, a very creative shot, not sure it's my cup of tea though.
Now to decide who wins:
3rd - Bazzameg - loved the detail
2nd - Des - loved the composition and colour
2nd - Myra - Loved the colours, very strong
1st - Paul - Loved the dramatic sky and composition (despite the watermark)
Well done everyone, sorry if I upset anyone.
