COMPETITION #41 - INDUSTRY
For this next competition, I have chosen INDUSTRY. With this I am thinking industry old or new; people at work; equipment; products; industrial landscape ... to broaden the scope for submission.
The competition will need to be a day shorter ending 6pm on Thursday 13th August as I will be away early Friday morning, but I am sure that won't deter resourceful members to submit.

Re: COMPETITION #41 - INDUSTRY
The contraction in Britain’s manufacturing output is slowing but a recovery is still a distant prospect, according to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). However work still is the curse of the drinking classes a spokesman said.

Re: COMPETITION #41 - INDUSTRY
Thanks for all that entered. An early judgement as I've got an early start tomorrow, but enough time to pick a winner.
Bert - Nice repetitive pattern of the looms with lead in lines to the weaver, wonder whether monochrome would make it significantly different? - reminds me of my engineering days and of Queen Street Mills in Burnley.
Keith - Another reminiscence from my past, lots of interesting machinery and objects in the workshop with the figures well placed. Like the monochrome but the treatment has degraded the quality of the image for me.
Tracey - Good monochrome record shot of the interior of the candle factory, with good lead in lines to the back of the room.
Bazzasmeg - Good record of the yard, spoilt for me by the high angle looking down [wonder if being closer to the ‘action’ would have helped and eliminated the unnecessary far distance], and a lack of punch to the dominant colour of the buildings.
John - Nice balanced composition with points of interest across the frame.
Tom - Well caught ‘candid’ portrait of the working man taking a rest that works well in monochrome.
Des - Good capture of colour and detail in something others may have passed by.
Steve - Well caught monochrome candid of man at work, with some background detail to put it in context, although I would have liked to have seen more or less of the body walking out of frame to the left.
Sue - A well seen image of the curving rail line leading in to the mine head, although the foreground appears too much in shadow. Not too sure about the use of texture on this occasion.
Placings - 1st Tom: 2nd Bert; 3rd Keith
Over to you Tom for Competition #42 and see you all in September as the song goes ...
