ADAPS Year Book 2014-2015

Yes, it's that time of year again and thoughts are turning to the ADAPS Year Book. This will be the seventh edition of this annual and I'd like to see every single ADAPS member represented in it. This year I have asked Mel Barnes to come on board as Assistant Editor and he and I will be discussing some new features soon. One new feature will the addition of some "member capsules" where each year we can take a more detailed look at featured photographers. If you are selected as part of the first group, then we'll ask you for more images. This is not an elitist selection by the way and a beginner might be chosen just as well as the most capable. We'll see how it goes this time and develop the idea for future editions.

The images I need are 3 from each person initially. Please let me have your flash drives, CDs, e-mails as soon as possible. The deadline is 15th March 2014.

If you e-mail me, please make sure I acknowledge receipt. Sometimes messages can be lost in spam folders or just lost. Zipped folders for e-mail, but for large files much better to give me a flash drive or CD. Please make sure your name is on these, plus any titles you want.

I'm pleased to see that the contributions are now starting to flow in.

If anyone is shooting film and needs help in making their images into digital files, please let me know. It would be great if we could incorporate as many styles as possible.

The pace of entries has picked up very nicely now and tomorrow we have out first editorial meeting to decide who will be asked to contribute extra images for one of the "Member Capsules" features.

To recap, this is an experimental idea where a few members will be featured each year. This is not on the basis of fame or influence, but because of something less tangible. It will be certainly based on a demonstration of ability, but it could be a complete beginner just as well as somebody well known and highly rated. It could be you!

Keep the images coming in please, the sooner the better.

We now have 20 contributers and I'd like to make that 40, so we're half way there.

Mel and I have had our editorial meeting and Mel will be approaching our first selection of members who will be offered a "Member capsule" feature in the year book.

So who will fine a knock at their door or hear the phone ringing? Stay tuned and soon all will be revealed!

The five "Member Capsules" for this time have been selected and Mel is in the process of doing the interviews for the book.

Yes, 3 are provided so I can choose the two that best fit the flow of the book.

Although the deadline is today I'm not quite ready to make the book.

So, we have period of time during which I can still receive entries. As soon as you can please!

We are now up to 37 contributers, which is excellent.

I am still able to receive submissions, but please don't delay. Even though I will still take images right up the point I'm designing the book it's not best practice to do it that way!

If you were in last year and haven't sent me any images so far, don't delay!

If you've never been in a volume before, bite the bullet and don't delay!
