I'm looking for any form of natural harbour, loch or lake paying particular attention to including three main ingredients they are 1. foreground 2. middle ground and 3. dramatic background, extra points for a dramatic sky , hope I'm not expecting too much good luck with your entries looking forward to seeing them.

My picture was taken during a holiday on Anglesy. It depicts the mooring areas on both banks of the Menai Straits at Bangor pier. I took this as it revived memories of a Christmas cruise from Liverpool marina in our Westerly Griffon Eclipse, with my mate Neil, who almost got hyperthermia during the night as it was so cold.

Kyleakin, Isle of Skye:

The shelter between the Isle of Skye and the mainland affords protection from the elements and a natural harbour exists at Kyleakin, just at the side of Castle Moile.

Tortola in the British Virgin Islands has lots of natural harbours - this is one near Road Town, the capital, taken when Gwen and I got married there.

Thank you to the five who entered I was a little disappointed I was expecting more entries, anyway for those who did enter my thoughts and results are as follows.

1. Yachtsman, Banks of the Menai Straits

Studied this for a period the picture is overexposed, the trees in the foreground take over the composition and is distracting also the signpost and the street lamp spoils the foreground, you have a foreground, a middle ground and a background on the chosen subject matter therefore in the true sense of the brief the image just about fits it and that's about all I can say about it.

2. John, Kyleakin

Stunning photo, know the area well, this for me had everything I asked for in the brief as well as being a well composed image, the water reflection finished it off nicely.

3. Mel, Tortola

Another very nice chosen image fitted the brief well and had everything in there, my only criticism is the foreground rather have seen a beach rather than a concrete wall and path.

4. Paul,

Like John's stunning photo again had everything in there, nice setting sun sky and water reflection, nice image.

5. Phillip, Sorrento

It looks a lot like a toy town effect image if that makes sense, it looks as though it's a photo taken from an old cruise brochure not sure if that was your intention, that said it fits the brief although with the foreground subject missing, I'm sure you have far better images around this subject in your portfolio.

So for the results.

Tilt-shift?

My photo was an in-camera effect, can't remember the name of it. It is a pseudo tilt shift. I wanted to enter something different to everyone else. I don't have any 'better' in my portfolio to be honest, as I don't like photos of landscapes for example. I'd love someone to sit me down and help me take a good landscape. My problem is, even the straight photo I took of this, doesn't remind me of being there, only my memories do. The photo is only about 1/6th of the landscape I remember.

On this trip, for a good friend's wedding, I took 4 rolls of black and white film. I need to get motivated to process it all. I only took around 20 photos with my digital micro 4/3rds, including a trip to Pompeii, which was breathtaking.
