Had a great half-day shoot today at Millwood Studios taking boudoir / lingerie shots of a stunning Romanian model (Georgiana) under the watchful eye and guidance of the glamour master himself, Paul Jones.
We used a number of scenarios for the various poses, eg: the model on a stool against a black backdrop, on a four-poster bed, on a settee with a smoke machine, against a window (using natural light), against a mirror, and Paul showed me different lighting set-ups for each scenario. This is my second shoot at Millwood, both times with Paul, and I have learned a hell of a lot from his coaching, especially on lighting set-ups and how to direct a model. I've still a long way to go yet regarding getting decent shots, but I feel that I am progressing and gaining the knowledge, which I now intend to put into practice with other models.
I believe that one of the most valuable things you can ever give anyone is your time, because you will never get that time back, and I think it's great of Paul - and others in ADAPS - to give their time to show me (and others, such as our new member Darren) some of his acquired skills. It's nice to learn from these great photographers in ADAPS, and to aspire to their quality of work. Many thanks Paul - you're a great chappie! Mel.

I'd definitely photograph her again anytime.
You don't have very far to go Mel. You've come a long way in a short time.melbarnes wrote: This is my second shoot at Millwood, both times with Paul, and I have learned a hell of a lot from his coaching, especially on lighting set-ups and how to direct a model. Re: Boudoir shoot at Millwood Studios with Paul Jones
We went through a few different sets and lighting setups in four hours. My favourite was using a beauty dish / reverse 3 point lighting setup. I think I'm going through a Hollywood phase and I think that Georgiana has quite a classic 'movie star' look...
I'm just looking through the files now, so thought I'd post a photo (also posted in the IMAGES Forum).

I rarely think of doing images in black and white Paul, but this is a very sultry and alluring pose that you've managed to capture. You've certainly got "the eye" for getting the best out of your models. It's motivated me to have a go at a monochrome processing of one of Georgina's photos (when I get the time...). An excellent image!

WOW! Another fine photo shoot from Mr Jones, the studio master. I absolutely love that B&W shot. Also the subtle post on your images is absolutely stunning! Along with great compositions and well shot images, It's this subtlety that creates a beautiful polished photos. Also love Mels shot too, fantastic!!!
Bloody Hell! I have so much to learn it's not funny!!!

Thanks Mel. I love the colour version of this shot, but thought the B&W version had the edge.melbarnes wrote: I rarely think of doing images in black and white Paul...

Well, you were with me on Saturday so saw how I do things, so it's just a matter of practising. You got plenty of good photos yourself.
