Wow,thanks Mike. It's more difficult than I thought coming up with a subject. I've had a flick back at some of the older categories though and haven't seen this one.
It can be any of the emergency services, not necessarily with lights and sirens. Closing at midnight Sunday 23rd.
Abandoned Competition
Re: Forum Competition #152- Emergency Services
Hi John, don't mean to be a party pooper here, but just thought that I'd better mention that attempting to photograph any of the emergency services could potentially put people on dodgy ground.
I would have thought for sure that the police would stop you from photographing them and may request that you give them your memory card. As for fire and ambulance, well that could be seen as being in bad taste at the very least.
Just my thoughts,
Andy.

Ok. The police have no right to take any memory card or have you delete images taken in a public place. However, I do take on your comment that fire or ambulance may be in poor taste, though photo journalism often contain such images. I was more thinking of a positive image, maybe taken during a carnival or some such occasion.
So to be less controversial I'll change the subject..

Re: Abandoned Competition
I've changed the title to avoid confusion. You're right that the Police have no right to ask for your card or to delete images, or even stop you taking pictures in a public place, but I suppose it can lead to confrontation.
Best regards
John

Re: Abandoned Competition
Hi John - Maybe we should just delete this whole thread to avoid confusion?

Re: Abandoned Competition
Apologies to Johnjm if I came across as preachy, but I do think, in the interest of club members, that it's best no to point cameras at the police in the current climate - even if they don't have the right to stop you (tell that to the US cop - see Paul's post ). Hopefully, no hard feelings there Johnjm.
I like the subject you've chosen instead, and may well enter if I manage to get the right image.
Best regards
Andy.
