Andrew Gill (The Lanternist) will be giving his presentation "WW1". Andrew gave a fascinating presentation on his previous visit to ADAPS and it was well supported and enjoyed by ADAPS members. Don't miss this one - you are in for a treat!

If anyone feels like getting into the spirit of the event, Victorian Attire would be a most suitable dress code for the evening.

Not wishing to be pedantic (although technically I do quite enjoy being pedantic!) WW1 isn't actually Victorian. It isn't even Edwardian as the Edwardian era is usually taken to end with the start of the war (don't you love Wikipedia?).
On the other hand why let that get in the way of a bit of dressing up.

That's exactly what I thought Gordon, why let reality encroach upon a bit of fun?

Another fantastic slide show from Andrew Gill tonight - Gwen and I enjoyed it tremendously (if 'enjoy' is an appropriate word, given the horrors of war).

I consider myself extremely lucky never to have been involved in the conflicts of war, and I've always had food in my belly and a roof over my head - not like these poor soldiers who must have gone through hell - fancy being marched off at a moment's notice to live in squalor in rat-infested trenches, then to be either shot, shelled, starved, infected, or gassed. Horrific!

We look forward to Andrew's next presentation.

My Great Uncle was a medic in the trenches, and was blinded for a year by mustard gas. He recovered, but had breathing problems for the rest of his life. The images Andrew showed put the horror into sharp relief and made a powerful presentation.

Thought provoking and well worth seeing.

Fabulous show, by Andrew. A good showing with the use of an ancient ''limelight'' projector, showing the horrors of WW1. The quality of the glass slides was amazing. Well worth attending. Alan D.
