Saturday 28 Nov 2015 - Macro Workshop

Post by John »

Don't forget this Saturday, starting 10am, we have Andy Butler and his Macro Saturday Workshop. This will have special emphasis on insect photography as well as macro in general.

Come along with your cameras and let's see what Andy has in store for us!
Best regards

People who are interested in macro who wish to come along on Saturday, it would be useful if they brought either their 55-200mm or 70-300mm lenses or similar (assuming they don't have a macro lens).

I will have a couple of things to try out some macro shots on, but if anyone would like to bring something along with them then that would be a good idea also.

Andy.

Thanks very much Andy for the effort you went to to give us a
great and informative presentation on macro photography. The prints you brought along were very professionally produced and well presented. Gwen and I learned a lot, and we've always admired your work. Now to get out and try to emulate it! :-)

Andy put a lot of effort into this and it paid off with an excellent workshop.

He has left his prepared display cards n the clubrooms on display, so those who didn't go may find those worth looking at.

Thanks to everyone who came to my macro workshop this morning, I hope you found it interesting and perhaps were inspired to have a go at photographing some insects yourselves next spring.

Apologies about my laptop letting the side down with the focus stacking!! Please refer to this short video on Youtube which explains everything in an easy to follow way:

Here are the insect photographers that I admire most - as I mentioned, Matt Cole is very good on technique and equipment advice:

Ross does a lot of magazine articles, you will have surely come across some of his work before. He does excellent landscapes too.

Bug Eye is a member of 500px and for my money, takes the best 'high-mag' insect shots out there - he lives in Thailand, so he's spoiled for choice when it comes to his subject!

I know that Mel would like to join me in summer to go round Low Hall nature reserve, but if anyone else would like to come too, then just let me know - it will be around May time and an early start! :-d

Thanks again,
Andy.

Hi Andy
Thank you for the links. I am so disappointed that I could not make your workshop but I was at a conference all day.
