Forum Competition #135 "Shadows" by Janice Freeman
Janice is away on holiday at the moment and was unaware that she had won the last forum competition because she was getting an error message on her tablet. I contacted her to inform her that she had won and she has asked me to post the next competition on her behalf.
Janice's chosen subject is "Shadows". Note that reflections will not count, and the choice of subject is entirely yours.
The closing date is midnight on Thursday 25 September.

Hi Folks, sorry for the delay in judging once again - arrived home from holiday about 30 mins ago (Yes - again!!) Had no WiFi/internet access. Give me today to settle in and I will post results tomorrow. Thanks Jan

Re: Forum Competition #135 "Shadows" by Janice Freeman
Obviously not a popular choice of subject! A disappointing number of entries for what I believed would have been a good subject, however here we go and apologies for the delay:
John - Shadow Self Portrait Nice shadows on this and I like the way that they creep across the ground and up the wall, it is obvious that the other shadow is a person, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more shape to the person shadow in order for it to better represent the title given. Not easy to do though when it is a hand-held selfie.
Yachtsman – A nice plain wall for the shadows to fall onto – however, for me they are not strong enough for me to look at the picture and think of it as a shadow photograph. You have some great lamps there with interesting shapes and I feel that they would have been great shadowed against the wall.
Bazzasmeg - Again a nice photograph with a decent sky, however the shadows are not strong enough or graphic enough despite there being an interesting outline falling on the wall of the building.
Mike - This is more about what I was looking for in a shadow image, good shadows with strong graphic lines. Fits the bill nicely.
Thank you to those who did submit images and due to the low entry I will just choose the winner -
1st Mike Aspinall -
Nice image Mike, over to you for the next subject.
Janice.

I have six or seven lamps for sale, there is an AV on YouTube showing six of them & some in the pipeline, the latest effort a "Bogey" (as in Humphrey Bogart) special. Two will be on sale at Jacquline's Vintage in the Royal Arcade in Lord Street after lunch tomorrow, the Kodascope & the Paillard Boles H16. Shop early for Christmas.

If you start a new thread with your competition details, the end date should probably be 2 or 3 weeks hence, to give people a chance to join in. The title should be "Forum Competition #136 - XXXXXXXXXXX" and I'll make it a sticky in due course.
Any problems, please ask!
